This combination gives you a powerful tool to evaluate the performance of any imaging device. Explore this variety of information:

Color Reproduction Quality

  • Obtain the average color difference expressed in ∆E*
  • Get more detailed information and check the differences in lightness (∆L*), in saturation (∆C*) and color tone (∆H*) separately.

Saturation Level

  • Mobile phones especially tend to render the images with an increased saturation to make the images more colorful.
  • The saturation level might decrease in low-light conditions; check how the device behaves under test.

White Balance

  • The white balance algorithms (AWB) detect the illuminant used and try to render a neutral image. Check how well this works by checking the neutral patches of the ColorChecker.

Noise Level

  • The ISO15739:2013 standard describes the calculation of “Visual Noise”, an objective metric to describe the perception of noise. Get the results for each patch and for the complete chart.
