Color Imaging Conference

In a few months’ time, the 25th annual Color and Imaging Conference (CIC) will take place in Lillehammer, Norway. Every year the CIC provides an excellent overview of the latest innovations and advancements in the areas of color science and engineering systems and technologies.

This year’s conference will take place from September 11-15 and feature many new short courses and workshops including a new course on the theory and practice of Camera Color Characterization. This course will be taught by our own Dietmar Wueller and his colleague Eric Walowit. Both have extensive experience working with color systems and are eager to present how color characterization of cameras can be taken to the next level.

In the past, it has always been a challenge to determine the spectral sensitivities of a camera, it was expensive, time consuming and required a skill set that was difficult to find in an operator. However, new technology developed by Image Engineering has helped create a way that is easy, stable and reliable when measuring spectral sensitivity.

The new technology allows the measurement process to happen in a matter of seconds, which means the individual color calibration on a production line is now possible using this method, expanding future opportunities for production. This creates a way for the color calibration to become a light source and a target independent. The new method can also use real world, in-situ measured colors and can create more sophisticated color correction methods than a simple 3x3 metric.

As color technology continues to rapidly progress, we encourage you to participate in this course in order to learn first-hand how to implement advanced color correction in cameras and software.

In addition to the CIC, IS&T is also actively preparing for the 2018 Electronic Imaging Conference from January 28 – February 1, 2018 at the Hyatt, San Francisco Airport.

Imaging across applicationsEI Master Logo

There are many conferences that address the field of imaging in specific applications, but there are none like the Electronic Imaging Symposium!

This symposium consists of many exhibits from multiple imaging fields including human vision, 3D, computational imaging and automotive applications. The EI is a great opportunity to speak with experts from the various fields and learn about the solutions they are implementing to solve their own imaging problems, as well as get their insight and advice about the future and direction of image quality.

Call for papers

The call for papers is still ongoing and you are more than welcome to submit your presentation even if you don’t want to present a full paper in the JIST journal. A paper about the conference proceedings, or simply just a presentation without a paper is also encouraged. For more information please visit the: Symposium Overview

Join us at EI and interact with the industry and academia leaders in all things image quality.
