The ideal moment is as important for a successful picture as an interesting subject and good light. In order for the camera to expose the sensor at the desired moment, it is important to react as quickly as possible when pressing the shutter button because the photographer determines the moment of exposure by pressing the shutter release. That is the reason why the LED-Panel for the determination of shutter lag, autofocus times, image sequence times, exposure times and the speed of the rolling shutter (two-way) has been a part of the measuring equipment in Image Engineering camera tests for a long time. The LED-matrix, which can be set in selectable directions, serves as a high-precision clock that can measure the duration of the studied time intervals with an accuracy of less than 0.001 ms.
The right moment
For a long time, the only thing camera testing was interested in was how long the camera required to expose an image after the shutter release button had been pressed. Meanwhile in modern cameras, a negative shooting time lag is now also relevant: many models expose the sensor from the moment of the first shutter release contact to the actual pressure. This innovation has led us to modernize our equipment for determining shutter lag: the LED-Panel V4 not only meets the requirements of the current ISO 15781 standards, but it also does justice to the forthcoming updates regarding negative shooting time lag.
Simple operation, uncomplicated analysis
The new LED-Panel V4 can determine negative shooting time lag in addition to "normal" shooting time lag. Its innovations also include control and analysis software that can be integrated into different test sequences. This user-friendly software is also available for users of the previous LED-Panel V2/3 models and provides the following functions:
- Control of the LED-Panel via USB
- Control of the Digitus / Digitus-T including interval control
- Creating multiple measurement series
- Providing results output in txt and xml formats (pdf planned)
- Evaluation of the shooting time lag
