Vega Series

High‑performance, DC‑driven LED illumination systems for visible and 940 nm imaging at ultra‑short exposure times

    Vega

    Vega

    Vega & Vega IR

The Vega Technology Series delivers ultra‑stable illumination for precision camera testing at extremely short exposure times. Built on a DC‑driven LED architecture, the series includes Vega for the visible spectrum and Vega IR for 940 nm near‑infrared, enabling contrast‑based performance measurements according to IEEE-2020:2024 across both spectral ranges. The direct‑current LED driver ensures stable output, fine intensity control, and consistent thermal behavior, preventing color shifting and intensity fluctuations. This stability provides the reliability required for accurate CTA, CSNR, and other IEEE-2020:2024 measurements.

    Key Benefits

    DC-driven LED Technology

DC (direct current) technology does not affect temperature regulation and can achieve temperature stability within 0.5 degee.

    IEEE-2020:2024 measurements

Measure most of the KPIs from the IEEE-2020:2024 standard, including CTA, CSNR, MMP, and dynamic range.

    Extremely high stability

Vega's extremely high stability provides a very strong consistency for testing cameras with very short exposure times.

    Eliminate color shifiting

Vega can eliminate color shifting through the meticulous selection of the LEDs.

    Flicker testing

Vega has advanced flicker capabilities that can be generated from a wider frequency range.

    Multiple waveforms

Advanced low-frequency functionality to include sine, triangular, and square waveforms to cover nearly all real-world scenarios.

    Vega devices

    Vega cube

    Vega (Visible Spectrum)

Vega is designed for high‑precision visible‑light measurements under extremely short exposure times, particularly for automotive HDR cameras.

    Vega IR cube

    Vega IR (940 nm Near‑Infrared)

Vega IR extends the Vega platform into the near‑infrared band, enabling contrast‑based KPIs for cameras operating under 940 nm illumination (DMS, OMS, RGB‑IR sensors).

    Lightcube-Controller

    Lightcube-Controller

The Lightcube‑Controller delivers reliable power management and seamless control for all Vega and Arcturus illumination devices.

    Use Case

    IEEE-2020:2024 Measurements

Vega is an ideal solution for measuring Contrast Transfer Accuracy (CTA), Modulated Light Mitigation Probability (MMP), Contrast Signal-to-Noise Ratio (CSNR), or other high-intensity measurements outlined in the IEEE-2020:2024 standard. These factors are relevant to almost all automotive camera applications, which require test solutions capable of creating dynamic test scenes for cameras with very short exposure times.

    Photometric vs. Radiometric Units

Modern camera testing uses two different measurement systems depending on the wavelength: photometric (for visible light) and radiometric (for infrared).

    Photometric Units (Visible Light)

    Vega

Photometric quantities describe light as perceived by the human eye. They apply only to wavelengths between ~380–780 nm.

    • Luminance (cd/m²): perceived brightness of a surface.

    • Illuminance (lx): perceived brightness falling onto a surface.

Photometric units weight light using the V(λ) curve, which models human visual sensitivity.

    Radiometric Units (Infrared Light)

    Vega-IR

Radiometric quantities describe physical optical power, independent of human perception. They apply to all wavelengths, including NIR (e.g., 940 nm).

    • Radiance (μW/(cm²·sr·nm)): optical power emitted per area, per solid angle, and per nanometer of wavelength.

    • Irradiance (W·m⁻²): optical power falling onto a surface.

Radiometric units are essential for IR camera testing because the human eye cannot see IR light, making photometric units meaningless.

    Product Options and Software

We offer multiple setup options and control software
    Vega C++ API

    Vega software and APIs

Vega is sold with control software that lets you manage up to seven devices simultaneously. APIs are also available (sold separately) to enable seamless integration into individual designs. We offer APIs in C, C++, and Python.

    VLS-Evaluation
