    Why Good AI Starts with Good Image Data

    More and more image processing is taking place directly on edge devices. As a result, the demands placed on intelligent vision systems continue to grow, as do the requirements for the image data on which their decisions are based. Through our membership in the Edge AI and Vision Alliance, we contribute our expertise in image quality and camera testing to an international community.

    Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of many camera systems. Whether in automotive applications, robotics, or medical technology, image data is increasingly processed and analyzed directly on the device.

    As a result, the role of the camera is changing.

    It no longer simply captures an image. It provides the foundation for an automated decision.

    This places significant demands on the entire imaging pipeline. An intelligent algorithm can only work with the information provided by the camera. Missing details, insufficient contrast, or excessive noise can directly affect system performance.

    This is precisely why objectively measurable image quality is a critical component of modern vision systems.

    Membership in the Edge AI & Vision Alliance gives us the opportunity to engage with companies and experts from a wide range of industries, gain early insight into emerging requirements for intelligent vision systems, and learn from the experiences of other members. At the same time, we actively contribute our expertise in image quality, camera testing methodologies, and objective performance evaluation to the community.

    The Alliance brings together organizations from industry, research, and technology. For us, it serves as a valuable platform for following industry developments, exchanging knowledge, and gaining new perspectives on the evaluation of modern vision systems.

    Because even as cameras and algorithms become increasingly intelligent, one principle remains unchanged:
