    Product Overview

The LE7 is a uniform lightbox that uses iQ-LED technology to improve camera image quality testing with transparent test charts.

iQ-LED technology is a light source that is capable of generating custom spectra to replicate various light sources in a test lab environment. As with our other iQ-LED products, the LE7 uses 20 LED channels to emulate almost any light spectrum for your camera testing.

The LE7 contains two, four, or six iQ-LED elements* and is based on the principle of an integrating sphere to provide > 97% uniformity of the active chart area. This product uses a mini-spectrometer with a spectral range of 350–860 nm to achieve better spectral resolution and higher sensitivity.

iQ-LED control software is provided with the LE7. Versions 3.2.0 and above allow you to control individual modules. Controlling modules individually allows a wider intensity range. An iQ-LED API is also available as a separate option for integration into your design.

*Please note, we may be able to upgrade your existing LE7 V2 without having to order a whole new device (not guaranteed). Please contact our sales team for details.

    Key Benefits

    iQ-LED light source

The LE7 is a uniform lightbox that uses iQ-LED technology to generate custom spectra for more accurate and flexible camera testing.

    Multiple variants

Choose from variants that include 2x, 4x, or 6x iQ-LED modules. Using more modules increases your minimum and maximum illumination values.

    Spectral range

The LE7 has a spectral range of 380-820 nm, and the LE7 VIS-IR variant has a range of 380-1050 nm.

    NIR testing

The LE7 VIS-IR variant uses two standard iQ-LED modules and four iQ-LED IR modules that expand the spectral range for camera testing in the near-infrared (NIR) range.

    Extended dynamic range

The LE7-E variant can create a dynamic range of up to 1:100.00 to expand testing in low-light scenarios.

    Color calibrations

Using the LE7 with the TE292 camSPECS plate test chart allows you to perform camera color calibrations using the power of iQ-LED technology to increase accuracy.

    Product Variants

In addition to the standard variants (LE7-2x, -4x, -6x), we also offer other unique variations.
Camera tesing using the LE7 and TE292 VIS-IR test chart

    LE7 VIS-IR

The VIS-IR version of the LE7 provides uniform illumination across the VIS-IR spectrum. This version includes two iQ-LED V2 elements covering the visible spectrum and four iQ-LED IR elements with 11 channels in the near-infrared region. These additional VIS-IR elements extend the spectral range to 380–1050 nm. The control software and API remain unchanged. We also offer many transparent test charts, such as the TE292B VIS-IR (camSPECS plate).

The camSPECS plate has been developed as an option for use with the LE7 to provide uniform iQ-LED illumination. iQ-LED illumination (as opposed to the halogen light source in the camSPECS device) can generate custom spectra to replicate numerous light sources for spectral sensitivity measurements, camera characterization, and calibrations, particularly color calibrations, including those in the NIR range.

The plate is compatible with any LE7 version or variant. An external calibration device is included with the plate

    LE7-E

The LE7-E version gives you the possibility to create a dynamic range of up to 1:100.000. Such a wide dynamic range greatly expands the testing possibilities, especially when testing in low light. This version is the only iQ-LED device capable of achieving such a wide dynamic range.

This version uses six iQ-LED modules, with the top-center module covered by a 1.8 ND filter, making it suitable for low-light testing down to 0.25 lx. If you are measuring extremely low intensities, we recommend using an external radiolux (rather than the internal mini-spectrometer) to ensure accurate measurements.

The LE7-E requires iQ-LED software version 3.2.0 or above to function effectively. With version 3.2.0, you can now control single modules inside the same device. Controlling individual modules is essential for achieving a wider dynamic range, especially in low-light conditions.

    LE7 - Basic

As a basic setup, you can also choose to have the LE7 delivered without a spectrometer** and instead with a device that has preconfigured illuminants. These illuminants must be individually requested (up to 40) and programmed into your device before delivery.

This option significantly reduces the product's total cost and is an excellent choice for new or smaller test labs looking to upgrade their image quality testing.

Please contact our sales department to get started with a basic product.

**A spectrometer can be purchased at a later date if desired.

    International Standards

The LE7 is ideal for testing various cameras accoridng to different international standards.

    IEEE-2020

An international standard for evaluating the image quality of automotive camera applications.

    IEC-62676-5

An international standard for analyzing the image quality performance of security and surveillance systems.

    ISO Standards

Evaluate camera image quality performance according to multiple ISO standards for digital imaging.

    Use Cases

    Near-Infrared (NIR) Testing

NIR camera systems have become more prevalent in many industries, including automotive, where they play a crucial role in Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and in-cabin systems for driver and occupant comfort and safety.

With the LE7 VIS-IR, you have a light source that can generate NIR light for more accurate testing of NIR camera systems in the comfort of a test lab.

    Spectral Sensitivity Measurements

Measuring a camera's spectral sensitivity determines how sensitive its system is to each wavelength or light level in the visible spectrum.

Traditional measurement methods use a monochromator, but these are complex devices with a steep learning curve. In contrast, LE7 can be combined with the TE292 camSPECS plate for spectral-sensitivity measurements, leveraging the power of iQ-LED technology.
