A spectrally tunable light source for reflective test chart illumination
The iQ-Flatlights are one of the most powerful light sources in image quality testing. Each light source comes with ten iQ-LED modules to generate custom light spectrums with a range of 380 to 820 nm.
Our test engineers use the iQ-Flatlights daily in our test lab, especially when performing VCX tests. The iQ-Flatlight can recreate all the light spectrums outlined in the VCX standard, including those from the recently released VCX-WebCam 2023 standard.

A new international standard from VCX-Forum
For the last two years, the VCX-Forum has been working on developing a reliable, objective, and comprehensive benchmark for webcam image quality. A few weeks ago, VCX-WebCam 2023 was officially launched. This international standard is one of the first to focus on webcam image quality. It can evaluate the video image quality for integrated and peripheral consumer-grade video conferencing cameras.
Software updates
Updates to the iQ-LED and lightSTUIDO software
In the latest version of the iQ-LED software, we have switched the file type of the luminance, making the software compatible with past versions. We have also introduced a new algorithm for more accurate color matching.
The lightSTUDIO software version 2.6.0 now supports the 850/940 nm versions of the lightSTUDIO-L series (using iQ-LED technology). In addition, the calibration and creation of luminance are no longer done using lightSTUDIO software but are now done with the latest version of the iQ-LED software. In our experience, testing has gone more smoothly when we ensure that luminance generation (iQ-LED) is separate from workflow/control (lightSTUDIO).
Changes to our fluorescent light options
We will no longer be offering our products with a fluorescent light option due to the bulbs and other fluorescent components becoming less easily accessible. We will only be offering fluorescent light with the lightSTUDIO-S and ST moving forward.
For a suitable replacement, please see our list of iQ-LED products. iQ-LED technology provides a spectrally tunable light source for generating custom spectra. Thus, fluorescent light can be generated using iQ-LED.
Upcoming conference schedule
In early 2023, we will be attending two of our most important conferences of the year. The Electronic Imaging conference will take place from January 15-19, 2023, and Photonics West will follow shortly after from January 28 – February 2, 2023. We look forward to seeing many familiar faces again and showcasing the latest advancements in image quality testing. We hope to see you in the new year!
